I have been reading, "Leaning on God's Heart," by Carolyn Sutton. It is her experience through breast cancer -appropro - since this is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. On the cover of the book it says, "When nothing is left, you still have God." So true! It has been a very uplifting read - if you are going through a struggle of any kind - this is a great book - and will encourage your faith. I love this verse she points out, "Ah, Sovereign Lord, you have made the heavens and earth by your great power and outstretched arm. NOTHING is too hard for you," Jeremiah 32:17. She says that God invites us to lean on His heart, especially during our darkest times. "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will you rest," Matthew 11:28.
Sooner or later, everyone faces a “cancer” in their life. It may not be intraductal carcinoma or non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. It may be infertility. The aftermath of an abusive childhood. The death of a loved one. An eroding financial crisis. Divorce. Alzheimer’s. The aging process. We are all reeling from the physical, emotional, and spiritual side effects of the cancer of sin and its cruelty. The ultimate choice is Do we turn away from God--or run to Him?
When nothing is left, you still have God. When stripped of everything, God remains. Only God can make a real difference. http://www.rhpa.org/newproducts/product.pl?type=sku&sku=9780812704334
